Oakley’s incredible team of Wake rippers reaffirmed their dominant presence in the industry at the 2011 Transworld Wake Awards in Orlando recently – racking up major honors and hardware after an all-time year of brilliance across the board. A typically vibrant celebration at the Surf Expo trade show, the Awards, laced with Oakley branding, went off yet again this year. All on the heels of a clean King of Wake Series sweep – with Young Star Harley Clifford claiming the men’s crown and fellow Aussie Amber Wing grabbing the Women’s Title. Add the Junior Pro Tour Title secured by O’s up and coming young rider, Shota Tezuka of Japan, and it’s safe to say that Oakley’s team is poised to continue dominance today and shape the future of the sport tomorrow.

    Si! Si! Si! Oakley’s Freestyle Motocross Star Dany Torres emerged from behind in the overall standings to claim the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Title on Saturday after a solid third-place finish at Cockatoo Island in Sydney, Australia. The hard-charging Spaniard was clipped by hometown Aussie rider Josh Sheehan in the semifinals in front of a raucous, sold out crowd of more than 11,000 screaming spectators. But his podium spot was enough to seal the deal, points-wise, for the 2011 Crown after charging into Sydney with a 40 point deficit behind Nate Adams.

    Brace yourself. The Ordinary Skier is here. Legendary skier Seth Morrison’s epic new documentary, presented by Oakley’s 1242 Productions and Director Constantine “CP” Papanicolaou, will be unveiled at the King Cat Theatre in Seattle, WA on September 9. To be premiered in conjunction with Poor Boyz Production’s premiere of their own film, The Grand Bizarre, The Ordinary Skier is set to dazzle the industry. Offering a magnificent glimpse into Seth Morrison’s present, future and storied past, the documentary – shot over two years – will certainly serve as a tribute to the brilliance of the industry innovator. “I wanted the film to show that you can make whatever you want to out of yourself,” Seth said. “That whatever it is, if it’s driven by passion and you work hard enough, anything can happen.”
